At a recent conference over 120 local businesses and organisations heard the detail of the new €308m EU Investment for Growth and Jobs Programme.

During the event it was outlined how through research and development and access to finance Invest NI can help local businesses access these funds

The funding is designed to increase the competitiveness of local businesses particularly SMEs by supporting their ambitions to produce world class innovative products and services. Support for research and development and access to finance will be key elements of support for local economic development while moving towards a lower carbon economy.

New ERDF Funding

We will be managing some £200m of ERDF funding which represents a significant investment in the Northern Ireland economy.

EU Investment for Growth and Jobs Programme (EUIGJ) commenced on 01 January 2014 and will run until the end of 2020. The ERDF funding will focus on strengthening research, technological development and innovation, enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs and supporting the shift towards a low-carbon economy.

The main areas of support will be through assistance for research and development, the design programme and specifically to SMEs through equity and loans made available through our Access to Finance Strategy, in capital investment for growth through Selective Financial Assistance and local council economic development activity.
