About the Trade Mission

In May 2026, we are planning to take a group of technology companies to Ottawa and Halifax – two of Canada’s most dynamic innovation hubs - to explore opportunities.

The programme includes high value government and industry engagements, access to federal and provincial decision makers, and full participation at AICON Halifax, creating strong pathways into Canada’s rapidly growing digital and AI transformation landscape.

Why Canada?

  • The country’s digital capabilities have sharply declined, falling to 32nd globally from 3rd just a decade ago.
  • Canada’s public sector is experiencing significant strain due to outdated digital infrastructure.
  • The federal government operates more than 50 networks nationwide, many unable to support cloud, video, and voice services-making cohesive transformation difficult.
  • The government has launched major initiatives, including the Digital Ambition programme and a $2.4 billion AI investment package, aimed at modernising service delivery and strengthening digital capacity.

Why Ottawa?

  • It is a strategically important export market with access to Canada’s federal government and a mature innovation ecosystem.
  • There are collaboration opportunities with the National Research Council (NRC), one of Canada’s most advanced applied research networks.
  • There is a strong private sector base of high growth tech firms seeking AI, data driven and digital solutions.
  • There is a well-established support ecosystem for international companies entering the Canadian market.

Why Halifax?

  • Nova Scotia is undergoing major government‑wide digital modernisation across public services.
  • There is a strong demand for digital identity, AI‑enabled services, workflow and GovTech solutions.
  • This province offers a faster, less bureaucratic procurement environment compared to larger provinces.
  • An opportunity to attend AICON Halifax - a leading international AI forum shaping the future of public‑service innovation.
