Southern Regional Office

The Southern region covers the three council areas of Newry, Mourne and Down, Lisburn and Castlereagh and Ards and North Down.

Our office is located in the restored Drumalane Mill in Newry right in the heart of the city. It acts as a pivotal hub for all of our activities across the region.

Successes

For the Corporate Plan period from 2011-12 to 2015-16 we provided support of almost £87m to over 5,000 business projects in the region, securing total investment of over £425m and the promotion of 5,636 new jobs.

The region has a successful financial and professional services cluster and is home to First Derivatives, a global provider of trading and risk management software systems and a strong employer in the area. It also has a strong food and drink sector with high quality and speciality producers.

Exports

Our Southern regional office has worked with many companies in the region to help them achieve export success such as Newry based Re-Gen Waste's £500,000 deal with a Turkish distributor following in-market advice from our trade consultants and participation on numerous trade missions. Datum Tool Design based in Ballynahinch who secured a $1million deal with a new customer in China following Invest NI support to help the company extend its manufacturing facilities which has given the company the capacity to compete for higher value projects.

The region has also attracted inward investment from companies including:
