Omagh-based cyber security company LoughTec is creating 15 new jobs as part of its plans to more than double its export sales by the end of 2028.

Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Omagh, the company delivers cyber security solutions to organisations across sectors including production, manufacturing, healthcare, construction, professional services and other regulated industries. Its services include 24/7 Security Operations Centre monitoring, phishing protection, Microsoft 365 security hardening, disaster recovery and compliance consulting.

Visiting the company's headquarters in Omagh, Ethna McNamee, Head of Regional Business for the Western Region, Invest Northern Ireland, said:“LoughTec’s ambitious growth plans are a strong vote of confidence in our local talent and the Fermanagh and Omagh District area. This investment will strengthen the local economy by supporting a locally owned business to expand its export-focused cyber security services, while creating high-quality employment opportunities.

Support from Invest NI has been an integral part of our growth journey over the past decade.

“By building on the region’s growing capabilities in IT and digital services, this project will help develop local skills and build on our work to support a strong and competitive high-value technology cluster in the West.”

Roles on offer include SOC analysts, senior security engineers and account managers.

Sean McDermott, Chief Executive Officer at LoughTec, said: “Our ambition is to grow our footprint across Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland, focusing on organisations that increasingly recognise cyber security as a business-critical requirement, including professional services, healthcare and other regulated sectors.

“Our growth is underpinned by our proprietary Assess, Remediate, Protect (ARP) framework, which helps organisations improve their cyber resilience through a structured and continuous approach to security.

LoughTec’s ambitious growth plans are a strong vote of confidence in our local talent and the Fermanagh and Omagh District area.

“These new roles are about investing in people as much as technology. We are creating opportunities for talented individuals to build rewarding careers in cyber security while helping organisations across the UK and Ireland become more resilient against an increasingly complex threat landscape.”

Invest NI has offered the company £90,000 of support towards the creation of the 15 new jobs.

Sean added: “Support from Invest NI has been an integral part of our growth journey over the past decade. In 2018, it helped us create six jobs to kickstart our growth journey, and its Leadership Programme has helped me further develop my capabilities as a CEO and has given us additional confidence and clarity as we embark on this next phase of expansion.”

Richard Christie, Director of Technology and Professional Services at Invest NI, added: “We have worked with LoughTec over several years and are pleased to continue that partnership. Cyber security is a rapidly evolving and globally competitive sector, and investments like this are key to strengthening Northern Ireland’s position in high-value technology services. Supporting companies across Northern Ireland to scale and access new markets helps raise the region’s international profile while creating good jobs.”
