Sean Nugent Engineering Expands its Horizons with Invest NI Support

Co. Tyrone based Sean Nugent Engineering Ltd is growing its workforce and export presence across Great Britain and Europe with support from Invest Northern Ireland.

The family firm has benefited from Invest NI’s Jobs Fund to create 18 jobs at the company and has already recruited the staff needed to enable it to meet the anticipated upsurge in orders, including new production and sales staff.

Based in Galbally, Dungannon, Sean Nugent Engineering designs, manufactures and markets a range of agricultural machinery products, cattle handling equipment and trailers. The company participated in Invest NI’s Business Growth Programme in March this year and as a result is implementing an action plan to grow the business, particularly in new export markets.

Kevin McCann, Invest NI’s Director of Advanced Engineering and Construction, said: “Sean Nugent Engineering is a forward thinking and innovative business which has continually added to its product portfolio to capitalise on market opportunities. The creation of 18 new jobs at the company is good news for the local area and will contribute over £350,000 annually to the economy in additional salaries.

“The business has built up a strong reputation over the years among key customers and used Invest NI advice and support to refine its development plans for the future. This focus and drive will stand Nugent in good stead to achieve its growth ambitions.”

Sean Nugent Engineering has benefited from a range advisory and financial support from Invest NI including technical advice, efficiency measures, skills development and export marketing to improve its performance. Its sales in Scandinavia, France, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, and Europe’s Benelux region have also grown substantially during the last three years following product developments assisted by Invest NI, with part funding from the European Regional Development Fund.

Commenting on the developments, Shane Nugent, Director of Sean Nugent Engineering, added: “Invest NI’s support with reviewing our business’ performance, assessing new market opportunities and identifying barriers to growth has been invaluable.

“Assistance from the Jobs Fund enabled us recruit the staff we needed quickly to meet the anticipated upsurge in orders. Over the next three years we will focus on consolidating our position within the GB trailer market, broadening our product portfolio and exploiting new opportunities in export markets.”
