OBE Waste & Agri Engineering based in Donacloney has recently completed an order to Nigeria worth £250,000 following marketing assistance from Invest Northern Ireland.

OBE Waste & Agri Engineering manufactures a wide range of incinerators and agricultural equipment. This order for 44 incinerators will be used to safely dispose of medical waste for a US Aid Programme and was generated through an agent in Great Britain.

OBE Waste & Agri Engineering has also sold two incinerators to Iraq, three to Kurdistan and exported other agricultural equipment to customers in Finland and Norway as a result of a marketing drive supported by Invest NI. The firm has recruited four additional production operatives to cope with its increased business activity.

Congratulating the firm during a visit to its premises, Ian Murphy, Invest NI’s Director of Growth & Scaling, said: “OBE Waste & Agri Engineering has concentrated its efforts on innovation and exports, both of which are leading to great international success. Invest NI has been supporting OBE since 2011 providing marketing assistance to help it develop its export presence. This latest order from Nigeria is testament to the company’s success in this area and of its commitment to grow outside Northern Ireland.”

The company is constantly expanding its product range to accommodate changing legislation and exports to customers across a range of markets including Poland, Iceland, Vietnam, Australia and Afghanistan.

Darryl Hylands, Managing Director of OBE Waste & Agri Engineering, said: “This substantial order for medical incinerators in Nigeria is a major win for us and combined with our additional sales, we are progressing well towards achieving our £1.5million export sales target for 2014.

“Enhancing our overall sales and marketing strategy has improved the profile of our company in key target markets. The support from Invest NI has been invaluable in helping us maximise the business potential of opportunities in emerging sectors. We hope to build on this position over the coming months."
