Invest Northern Ireland support during 2014/15 has secured over £10 million of investment by businesses within Causeway Coast and Glens District Council area, promoting nearly 300 new jobs.
Des Gartland, Invest NI’s North West Regional Manager, said: “To help secure this investment and enable businesses to bring forward their growth plans, Invest NI offered over £2 million of support to businesses in the area. As well as helping secure 288 new jobs as part of future projects, 364 new jobs actually created in Causeway Coast and Glens during 2014/15, as a result of Invest NI support.
“Through working in partnership with local firms we have helped support them to expand, look to new markets, invest in skills training for their staff and undertake R&D to remain ahead of the competition. The 91 per cent increase in investment in skills development and the 282 entrepreneurs from the area participating in the Regional Start Initiative last year reflects a growing confidence and commitment to growth within the business community.
“During the course of the year we supported an expansion by Payescape Ltd. The Ballymoney company announced its plans to create seven new jobs following investment by a US entrepreneur. We also helped Environmental and Waste specialist ATG Group (ATG), based in Coleraine, to create four new jobs as part of its plans to grow sales in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland.
“As well as this strong in-year performance, across the four years of this Programme for Government, we have helped leverage £66 million of investment in the local economy and supported projects which promoted over 1,206 new jobs.”
