New Factory Opens Up Opportunities For Belfast Print Finishers

Sep 12, 2006

Invest Northern Ireland’s Chief Executive, Leslie Morrison, has officially opened Belfast Print Finishers’ new 12,200 sq ft purpose-built factory in Hightown Industrial Estate, Mallusk.

The company, which previously operated from three separate sites, received support from Invest NI to move into the factory earlier this year. The move has allowed it to increase efficiency and capability and to secure new contracts. As a result the investment will create 12 new jobs over a three-year period.

Speaking at the opening, Leslie Morrison said: “Belfast Print Finishers has experienced strong growth over the last few years and has identified a clear export opportunity to supply products for a number of leading national newspapers. To take advantage of this opportunity and build on recent success the company has invested in this new facility and in strengthening its management team.

“This, together with its strategy of diversifying its customer base and increasing its level of exports, will mean it can continue to grow profitability.”

Belfast Print Finishers is one of only two print finishers in Northern Ireland and the only one to offer a one stop shop for services such as laminating, UV varnishing, folding, binding, stitching, cutting and creasing, and glueing.

The company took the decision to bring its three operations together in a new factory after taking part in Invest NI’s Strategic Development Programme. It has identified a phased strategy for export growth and has been able to enhance its quality control and increase competitiveness.

Alan McMorris, Director of Belfast Print Finishers, commented: “The move to Mallusk has given us more flexibility than ever before and the production-wide management gives us a fast controlled turnaround. Thanks to the support we received from Invest NI we have been able to take on significant new business and already we are making plans to expand yet again.”
