Invest Northern Ireland’s nibusinessinfo.co.uk website now has a dedicated facility for accountants and tax advisers. This section on the website will help those involved in preparing financial year-end returns by giving a central point of access to updates and services from organisations such as HM Revenue & Customs and Companies House.
It’s the first step in a phase of content development on the site specifically for professional advisers. Shauna Fenton, head of Invest NI’s nibusinessinfo.co.uk team, says: “Professional advisers from accountants and tax advisers to freight forwarders can gain immediate access to updates relating to their areas of expertise. This includes changing legislation, tools to ease administrative burdens, information guides and details of events that can support them in their role. The site will be extending this service to a range of specialisms including human resources.”
nibusinessinfo.co.uk also has information and guidance on filing VAT returns, which from April 2010 will have to be submitted online. The guide explains in detail who will be affected by the new regulations, what action businesses should take and when. It also signposts users to further information and advice.
Shauna Fenton says: “The guide gives details about which businesses have to file VAT returns online and how they can pay electronically. It takes users through the steps needed to prepare for the change including registering and enrolling for the VAT online service and considering whether any business processes for checking and signing off VAT returns need to be changed.
“Business people that become nibusinessinfo.co.uk members will get updates on information that’s added to the site, such as regulation changes, events and funding support. These are sent directly to them by e-mail and as the service is free there really is no reason why a business wouldn’t want to register on the site to save time and for peace of mind,” adds Shauna Fenton.
