Belfast-based performanceACTIVE International Ltd has secured three new US contracts and two new South African contracts for its golf practice programme following support from Invest Northern Ireland.

myGRiPzone.com is an innovative new way for golfers to practice and improve their game and has been well received by a number of the sport’s professionals, academies and universities since it was developed in 2012. Florida University, the Mississippi Institute of Golf and two top academies in Johannesburg and Cape Town South Africa are the latest organisations to adopt the programme.

The company recently invested over £90,000 towards business development activities and recruited two new management positions to support the future growth of the business. Invest NI has offered the company over £36,000 of support towards its marketing activities.

Ian Murphy, Invest NI’s Director of Growth & Scaling, welcomed the news. He said: “myGRiPzone is an exciting online sports performance improvement product with significant export potential. Since participating on Invest NI’s Propel Programme, this high growth firm has continued to enhance its profile among target customers and is winning new business as a result. Its recent investment will give performanceACTIVE the capabilities to undertake further product development and also move into other sports.”

Fergus Wallace, Managing Director of performanceACTIVE, said: “The US and South Africa are key target markets for myGRiPzone and we’re delighted to sign up five more customers following business development trips there. Golfers, coaches, teams and academies in 24 countries are now using the product and the support we have received from Invest NI has undoubtedly contributed to our progress to date.

“myGRiPzone has been developed on a mobile-based platform and further coach and player features are being added over the coming months. Having our additional management on board will be crucial in maintaining, and building on, the momentum we have gained in our target markets.”

performanceACTIVE is a graduate of Invest NI’s Propel programme and has participated in a number of Invest NI trade missions. The company has also received investment from Invest NI’s Proof of Concept Fund towards the development of myGRiPzone.com. This fund forms part of the Northern Ireland Spin Out (NISPO) fund which supports start-up and early stage businesses in Northern Ireland.
