The trade mission will focus on South Africa and Nigeria, however depending on business opportunity, you may be required to travel elsewhere. The trade mission is open to Invest NI client companies wishing to develop their exports into a new market or to grow their existing business relationships and support customers.

With a population of over 53 million and a growing middle class, South Africa provides exporters with an already well-developed export market and an access route to markets as far north as the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The key opportunities and industry sectors for Northern Ireland companies in South Africa are mining, waste management, agriculture, security, energy, ICT, food and drink and healthcare. South Africa is one of the top 10 markets in terms of whiskey consumption.
Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country with a population of over 180 million and is a strategic market for companies with a long-term view to operating in West Africa. Lagos, the commercial heart of Nigeria, has an economy larger than that of Ghana. Most sectors are still widely underserviced, with little local manufacturing taking place and consumers are thus very much dependent on imported goods.
The key opportunities and industry sectors for Northern Ireland companies in Nigeria are materials handling, education, ICT, infrastructure and logistics, food and drink, life sciences.
The Invest Northern Ireland Trade Team in Belfast will be on hand with advice and guidance to help you prepare for the Trade Mission. Working with our in-market Trade Advisers, we can provide tailored market research and arrange individual appointments for your company. The cost of the service is heavily subsidised by Invest Northern Ireland and the cost to your company would be £500 + VAT for one Trade Mission centre and £750 + VAT for two Trade Mission centres.

Companies who have exceeded their De Minimis aid limit will be unable to claim assistance towards travel, accommodation and in-market support for this mission. The maximum De Minimis aid any single recipient can receive is €200,000 (cash grant equivalent) over a 3 year fiscal period.
